Bring
Back Twin Peaks

Liner Notes
Last Thursday, as I was driving,
Canadian V-shapes flying
Overhead got my left hand trying
To steer as I searched for
a recorder:
I see Cooper sending another
Tape of his requests to the others
Up at the home office, & I wonder,
"In prayers, why can't I always be that sure?"
|
'Cause
it seems lately it's been falling apart at the
Seams, lately it's been falling apart.
'Cause it seems lately it's been falling apart at the
Seams, lately it's been falling apart.
Hear, the churches are singing:
& all the schoolchildren say:
& all the Boulder Hill families:
They want it all back to stay. |
"Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!"
|
See,
my job's as a video store clerk:
Each night, to the same princes & same jerks,
I keep on recommending at work
The same titles to rent that they don't have time to.
But if I could learn what Cooper knew -----
Jimmy Stewart's & Jack Webb's nephew -----
Then I could treat both the many and few
With that same respect of a heart that's true. |
'Cause
it seems lately I've been falling apart at the
Seams, lately I've been falling apart.
'Cause it seems lately I've been falling apart at the
Seams, lately I've been falling apart.
Hear, the churches are singing:
& all the schoolchildren say:
& all the Boulder Hill families:
They want it all back to stay. |
"Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!" |
Where have you
gone, Special Agent Dale?
The Nielsens hold a place for special shows.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
So here's to you, Mr Pete Martel:
You're fishing now with St Peter, we know.
Oh, oh, oh.
|
'Cause
it seems lately I've been falling apart at the
Seams, lately I've been falling apart.
'Cause it seems lately I've been falling apart at the
Seams, lately I've been falling apart.
Hear, the churches are singing:
& all the schoolchildren say:
& all the Boulder Hill families:
They want it all back to stay.
They needed room for the Farm 'n' Fleet,
So they tore down the farm fields.
So won't you please let me watch it,
If I can't be there for real?
We hear America singing:
& them in Naperthrill say:
& all the boys in the Bookhouse:
They all want it all back to stay.
Can you hear old Aurora?:
& up in Evanston's way:
They even got Big Ed singing:
We want it all back today.
We want it all back to zero,
We want to try that again,
We're certain Audrey survived that blast,
Vermont wants Jerry and Ben.
So give us back Sherriff Truman,
& we won't ever get bored.
We want to hear Major Briggs say,
"Achievement's it's own reward."
(We don't need ratings no more!) |
"Bring
back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!
Bring back! Bring back!
Bring back Twin Peaks!"

Avant terriblé David Lynchs obsessions with visual
experimentation & the middle class found their most homogenous form in the primetime
soap Twin Peaks, and in the process changed network TV eternally.
Plotlines involving serial murder were just an excuse to observe this
secluded Oregon burgs struggles with an almost primeval light & darkness, &
to meditate a bit on the disappearance of Small Town USA. Our prayer:
At least give us more episodes to watch if we cant be there
for real.

"At
a time like this, you curiosly begin to think of the things you regret,
of the things you might miss: I would like, in general, to treat people
with much more care and respect. I would like to climb a hill -----
not too tall ----- and sit in the cool grass ----- not too cool -----
and feel the sun on my face."
- David Lynch & Mark Frost, Twin Peaks (1990)
"Lately I've been thinking
And how the whole world's come undone.
Everybody's got this sinking feeling
Feeling they're on the run.
But I know a place where time stands still:
I can picture it in my mind,
But I'm not sure if we can get there . . .
Oh no, we need a change
(This world's stranger now)
Now is not the time to run away
(There must be a way)
A way that we could listen to
The warning signs, so pay attention.
This is my intention to prevent this fate
Before it gets too late.
And as the hands of the clock go round and round
And the world keeps marching on,
Can you afford to let it fall?"
- Bob Mould, "It's Too Late" (1990)
"This world is big and wild and half insane
Take me where the animals are playing . . .
Girl, it's a hard hard world
If it gets you down.
Dreams often fade in time
In a bad bad world.
I'll take you where real animals are playing
And people are real people not just playing
It's a quiet quiet life
By a dirtry old shack
That we called our home
I wanna be back there
Among the cats and dogs
And the pigs and the goats
On Animal Farm
Animal home."
- Ray Davies, "Animal Farm" (1969)
