Death Of A Salesman
(1:30)[4/23/00/2:50p.m.]
Based on the play by Arthur Miller. MP3
Sometimes Willy Loman reminisced on the past
When he drove back from a no-sale day,
Thinking back to 15 years ago when his sons
Biff And Happy still seemed on their way.
Now one was thief, and the other, a liar,
But insurance would still send mail,
So he asked his boss, Howard, for a desk job
To rest from the beaten trail:
WILLY: “Promises made a-
Cross this desk, and now you musn’t
Tell me you’ve got people to see!”
HOWARD: “You never averaged
$170 in commission;
Kid, understand there’s
No spite in it; you’re a nothin’;
You’ll please excuse me.”
Death Of A Salesman.
Willy was to meet his son’s at Frank’s Chop Shop,
But instead got stuck reliving a scene
Where Biff caught him an adulterous mess:
It was there Biff gave up his daydreams.
So Linda, the boys’ mother, stood at the door:
She was angry, and called them both bums.
Then Biff agreed, and said,”Let’s talk to Dad,
‘Cause it’s time you gave up on this son:”
WILLY: “Promises made a-
Cross this table, so you musn’t
Tell me that you’ve gotta be freed!”
BIFF: “You‘ll never be a
Leader, just a dime a dozen;
Pop, understand there’s
No spite in it; I’m just nothin’;
Please just forget me . . . ” |
